Privacy Policy (POPIA)

1. Introduction

Lifeline Home Care (Pty) Ltd (Reg. No. 2019/456789/07) ('Lifeline', 'we', 'us') is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of all patients, family members, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy is issued in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

3. Personal Information We Collect

We collect: patient name, age, address, and contact details; medical history, diagnoses, and medication information; family member contact details; payment information; and website usage data (cookies, IP addresses). We collect only what is necessary for the provision of care services.

4. Purpose of Processing

We process personal information to: provide nursing and care services; develop and manage care plans; communicate with patients and families; comply with legal and regulatory obligations; improve our services; and process payments.

5. Medical Data

Medical and health information is classified as special personal information under POPIA. We process this data only with explicit consent, and only to the extent necessary for the provision of care. Medical data is stored securely and is accessible only to authorised clinical staff.

6. Data Storage and Security

Personal information is stored on secure, encrypted systems. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access, loss, or destruction of personal information. Data is retained for the period required by law and our retention policy, after which it is securely destroyed.

7. Consent

We obtain explicit written consent before processing personal information for care services. Consent forms are provided at the time of care assessment. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain certain information.

8. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with: treating doctors and specialists (with consent); emergency services (in life-threatening situations); regulatory bodies (as required by law); and service providers who assist us in delivering care (subject to data processing agreements).

9. Your Rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to: access your personal information; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of information (subject to legal obligations); object to processing; and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
